Thoughts On Asking God

James 4:2, You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. Mat 7:7, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: What do we ask and how do we ask? God will not fault us for what we don't know but for what we don't ask. Two people who asked of Jesus and their requests were granted. The first is the leper in Mat 8:2, And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. This man asked and allowed Jesus to do something in his life. If we allow God 100% to work in us, He will and can do it for us. Sometimes we ask and don't receive what we ask for. Do we allow Him to work in us? We can't receive what we're asking if we are not willing to allow Him to do what He wants in our lives. Cleansing is very important in our lives and this man realized his need for cleansing. We need it so much as we journey in this life. It's so easy to get dirty each day and so we need daily cleansing. If you were brought before the president of your country, or the king what will you ask?

The second person that came to mind is the blind man in Luke 18:41, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. Our sight is very important to us. Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: It is very important to have a clear vision, that our eyes see...Blessed are your eyes for they see...many have desired to see these things but did not see what you see. James 4:3, Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Another reason why we don't receive what we're asking for is because of own selfish lust - our desire is not right. If we ask with a desire to use it according to His will and not our own will, He will grant it to us. Jesus prayed earnestly and asked his Father, in Mat 26:39, And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. He asked for the cup to pass from him but he did not insist on his own will but the will of His father. If we ask according to His will for us, it will be granted. Mat 21:22, And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Another reason for not receiving what we ask for is unbelief. If we believe in our hearts that God is able to do it for us then we will receive it. John 14:13, And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Asking in the name of Jesus, John 16:23, And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. John 16:24, Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:26, At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: If we ask in humility, with a desire to surrender, to submit ourselves, to allow Him, and asking it in faith and in Jesus' name, our request will be granted. Our heavenly Father knows our need even before we open our mouths to ask and daily cleansing and a good vision He will surely give us. It is just a matter of asking in the right spirit.
