"He Who Hath Led, Will Lead"

Hymn 327 “He who hath led, will lead.” I like this song because it is all about the future. Isaiah 32:18 “My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” This is a beautiful picture for God’s people. On the journey of life we MUST find the quiet resting place. I have been considering these quiet resting places and I have come up with five of these resting places.

# 1 Trust: We are going into an unknown future, but we can trust God’s leading. Trust to the extent that our soul is at rest. Ruth 2:12 - God, under whose wings Ruth had come to trust. We always enjoy people who are at ease. Daniel 3:12 - Daniel’s friends trusted God completely even when thrown into the fire. Even the King knew that their refusal to bow down to his god, and they trusted that God would deliver them, caused the king to trust in God also. David trusted God in his battles.

# 2 Forgiveness: Makes the journey easy. Joseph learned to forgive his brothers when everything was going bad. He never blamed his brothers for the difficulties he experienced, realizing that God was directing his path. Genesis 50: 15, & 20 - Even when Jacob was dead and his brothers were sure he’d then "hate us and requite us for the evil which we did to him." Joseph told them: “You thought it for evil, but God meant it for good to save much people alive.”

# 3 Prayer: Pray until sacrifice and service become a privilege.

# 4 Love: so deeply that it does not matter what God asks of us. Love keeps our heart soft. When our hearts are soft it’s easy to forgive, easy to pray, and easy to find a place of service. The more we love, the less we hate, the less we are inclined to criticize or find fault.

# 5 Submission: Submit until our human will is broken. Jesus prayed in the garden “Thy will be done.” If we find these resting places, we’ll have all the help we’ll need to have the strength to be victorious.

I had taken this little 3 year-old boy on a subway in Warsaw, (Poland) and it was crowded with people. He couldn’t see around, or up ahead, not a good place to have little kids. He looked up at me and said, “I’m not afraid.” But he was hanging on to my hand for dear life. This world is a bad place, so we need to hang on to our heavenly Father’s hand as tight as we can.

A Prayer For The New Year

Dear Master, for this coming year
Just one request I bring.
I do not pray for happiness
Or any earthly thing;
 do not ask to understand
The way Thou leadest me:
But this I ask - Teach me to do
The thing that pleaseth Thee.

I want to know Thy guiding Voice.
To walk with Thee each day.
Dear Master, make me swift to hear
And ready to obey.
And this the year I now began
A happy year will be
If I am seeking just to do
The things that pleaseth Thee.

What If

Oh, what if the one we failed to uphold,
By the prayers that we did not pray,
Should fall in defeat at the battles front,
Or falter along the way.

Do you think the fault would be wholly theirs,
If weary and sick in heart,
They failed to render some service true,
When we did not do our part.

I Asked The Lord...,

I asked the Lord to give me
Great words to speak;

He send me down to listen
beside a little creek.

I asked the Lord to grant me
A silver voice to be heard;

He gave me a song to remember,
But it came from the throat of a bird.

I asked that I might see Him,
And hear His voice, soft and low;

He whispered under a starlit sky,
"Look up! Look up! and know!"

Thanks For Your Time

A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door.

Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

"Jack, did you hear me?"

"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.

"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.

"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.

"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said.

"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important. Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house next door one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time. The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture. Jack stopped suddenly...

"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.

"The box is gone," he said

"What box?" Mom asked.

"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,'" Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died. Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox: "Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read.

Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:

"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."

The thing he valued most was... my time.

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.

"I need some time to spend with a friend," he said.

"Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!"

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
2. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
3. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
4. You mean the world to someone.
5. If not for you, someone may not be living.
6. You are special and unique.
7. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you trust God to do what's best, and wait on His time, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.
8. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it.
9. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
10. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
12. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and you'll both be happy.
13. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

The Riches Left Behind

Forget the times of trouble,
but not the truths they taught.
Forget the days of sorrow,
But not the strength they brought.
Forget the bitter moments when heaven seemed unkind,
but don’t forget the lessons learned, the riches left behind.

The faith, the wisdom and the peace,
the harvest of the years,
the grain that none can gather in
except with toil and tears.
Forget the storm you battled through. Forget the heavy load,
but not the light that led you safely down the lonely road.

Diamonds

Diamonds are only chunks of coal
That stuck to their job, you see;
If they had petered out as most of us do
Where would the diamond be?

It isn’t the fact of making a start,
It’s the sticking that counts I’ll say;
It’s the fellow that knows not the meaning of fail
But hammers and hammers and hammers away.

Whenever you think you’ve come to the end of the way
And you’re beaten as bad as can be,
Remember that diamonds are only chunks of coal
That stuck to their job you see.

These Things

Think on these things, our thoughts are heard in Heaven,
Think on God's Son, His life so pure He gave,
Oh, meditate upon His death and suffering
"This was for me, He died my soul to save."

Oh, do these things, there's joy, when we obey Him
There's rest of heart in yielding to His will,
Live for these things, our God is keeping "Israel."
We'll not be moved, draw nearer to Him still.

Add to these things, while life's short day is passing,
Lack not these things, be clothed with charity,
Love never fails; we'll not be idle, useless,
In Christ, the vine, our lives will fruitful be.

Go, tell these things, God's Son left all to tell them,
He spent His life, and others bade He go;
We thank our God, for those He sent to help us
That in this life, "these things" are ours to know.

Thoughts On Asking God

James 4:2, You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. Mat 7:7, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: What do we ask and how do we ask? God will not fault us for what we don't know but for what we don't ask. Two people who asked of Jesus and their requests were granted. The first is the leper in Mat 8:2, And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. This man asked and allowed Jesus to do something in his life. If we allow God 100% to work in us, He will and can do it for us. Sometimes we ask and don't receive what we ask for. Do we allow Him to work in us? We can't receive what we're asking if we are not willing to allow Him to do what He wants in our lives. Cleansing is very important in our lives and this man realized his need for cleansing. We need it so much as we journey in this life. It's so easy to get dirty each day and so we need daily cleansing. If you were brought before the president of your country, or the king what will you ask?

The second person that came to mind is the blind man in Luke 18:41, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. Our sight is very important to us. Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: It is very important to have a clear vision, that our eyes see...Blessed are your eyes for they see...many have desired to see these things but did not see what you see. James 4:3, Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Another reason why we don't receive what we're asking for is because of own selfish lust - our desire is not right. If we ask with a desire to use it according to His will and not our own will, He will grant it to us. Jesus prayed earnestly and asked his Father, in Mat 26:39, And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. He asked for the cup to pass from him but he did not insist on his own will but the will of His father. If we ask according to His will for us, it will be granted. Mat 21:22, And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Another reason for not receiving what we ask for is unbelief. If we believe in our hearts that God is able to do it for us then we will receive it. John 14:13, And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Asking in the name of Jesus, John 16:23, And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. John 16:24, Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:26, At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: If we ask in humility, with a desire to surrender, to submit ourselves, to allow Him, and asking it in faith and in Jesus' name, our request will be granted. Our heavenly Father knows our need even before we open our mouths to ask and daily cleansing and a good vision He will surely give us. It is just a matter of asking in the right spirit.

Thoughts In Sunday Meeting

Exodus 6 And 7

Although the elders of Israel had initially believed Moses and Aaron after they have shown the signs from God (c 4:4-7, 9, 30-31); now they doubted him because after they went in to Pharaoh asking permission to go to the wilderness to sacrifice, Pharaoh made it all the more hard on the people through heavy labor (c 5:7-14). The message that initially gave them hope for deliverance from bondage now turns into affliction and much oppression for the people. This is what the enemy of our soul does too. Whenever he sees the beginning of faith in us he will do anything to hinder it from growing and instead put some doubts in our hearts. Will God really do this for you? Can He do this to you? How can he do this for you? Who are you to look after and care for? These are seeds of unbelief.

Moses’ complaint in chapter 5:22-23, is now answered. “Now, you will see.” (c 6:1). God wants to give assurance to us also. He wants us to see His wonderful work in a yielded life (as in the life of Moses himself; and in the life of His own son, Jesus) and the result of God’s work in un-yielded life (as in the life of Pharaoh).

God assured Moses again who He was (c 6:3) and what He can do (6:4-8). To Abram, Isaac and Jacob, He was the God Almighty. Now, to Moses, He was the Ever-existent God, the Self-existent and Eternal - there is no one before Him and ever will be. Jesus said, “Before Abraham was, I am”, John 8:58. As we get to know Him better, our fears are dispelled and our doubts dismissed.

“I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel.” (v5). God hears our cry. Another assurance to Moses that God hears and He is not deaf as the heathen god -they have ears, but they hear not: (Psalms 115:6 & 135:17).

Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips? (v12). Moses was just saying, if my own people don’t believe me how can other people believe me? Jesus himself testified, that a prophet has no honor in his own country (John 4:44). God wants to let Moses know what He can do through him to make his people believe. If we are willing to be used by God, He can show His power working in us to our own family and loved ones so that they too might believe (c 7:1-5).

“Exodus 7:6, And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they”. From this time onward, Moses’ doubts and reluctance to obey were gone and he willingly did all that the Lord commanded him to do. This is the result of communion with God after God has shown Moses of His plan of deliverance for the children of Israel more clearly.

The signs of the rod becoming a serpent and the water turning into blood... The sorcerers and magicians of Pharaoh can only imitate these at some point but not as powerful (v12) and not as extensive and as widespread (7:17-22, 24-25). The world can imitate the children of God or even at some point make it look like the work of God but it is very limited and not as powerful. It is only God who can do a true miracle in our own hearts and lives and this can be done only in whose lives they allow God to work. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up...John 3:14. The serpent was the symbol of sin and Jesus became a symbol for our sins so that we can be saved. This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood…1Jn 5:6. In John 19:34, But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. In Rev 12:11, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb…we couldn't be thankful enough for our salvation and for the precious blood of the Lamb who died for us. God was just showing to Pharaoh that He is more powerful than the Egyptian’s god of the Nile. Remember this is the same river where they threw all the newly-born male babies. Now God had the upper hand and their source of life and cleansing became loathsome to them. 2Co 2:16, To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. What to the Egyptians as savour unto death was life and salvation to God’s people.

Things To Remember

24 Things to Always Remember...
(and one thing to never forget)

Your presence is a present to the world.
You're unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be.
Take the days just one at a time.

Count your blessings not your troubles.
You'll make it through whatever comes along.
Within you are so many answers.
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don't put limits on yourself.
So many dreams are waiting to be realized.
Decisions are too important to leave to chance.
Reach for your peak, your goal, your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy then worrying.
The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets.
Don't take things too seriously.
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes along way.
Remember that a lot... goes forever.
Remember that a friendship is a wise investment.
Life's treasures are people... together.

Realize that it's never too late.
Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
Have health and hope and happiness.
Take the time to wish upon a star.

And don't ever forget...
for even a day... how very special you are.

True Happiness

True happiness may be sought, caught, or thought, But never bought.

Happiness is the result of being too busy to be unhappy.

No one can define happiness. You have to be unhappy to understand it.

Genuine happiness is when a wife sees a double chin on her husband's old girlfriend.

Happiness does not come from what you have. But what you are.

Happiness is where you find it and seldom where you seek it.

Happiness is home brewed.

The surest path to happiness is in losing yourself in a cause greater than yourself.

The place to be happy is here, the time to be happy is now, the way to be happy is to
make others so.

The Will To Live

"I am not able" Moses said, "to bear this heavy load.
These people murmur at their cross and want an easy road;
Did I beget them? Why should I a nursing father be?
Take Thou my life, spare me the shame my wretchedness to see."

A loving Father understood his weary servant’s plea;
He too was grieved for long He’d sought for men with eyes to see;
He poured His spirit forth upon the elders Moses found,
That they might help men on to Israel ’s holy ground.

Elijah brave was sore distressed by Ahab’s wicked reign;
Alone he stood though all around God’s prophets had been slain;
He hid in Zidon, then returned, but fled from Ahab’s wife;
The journey seemed too great for him, he too despaired of life.

Again the Lord was quick to hear His servant’s plaintive cry;
An angel came and brought him bread and placed some water nigh;
Revived, he journeyed to the mount where God’s own voice he heard,
Anoint Elisha in thy room." God’s way was thus preserved

Job knew loss of wealth and fame, of health and loved ones too;
Curse God and die," his wife soon said; his comforters were few.
Misunderstood, his heart soon sighed, "Why died I not at birth?"
And later as the arrows pierced, he pled, God grant me death!"

His friends could never understand but God revealed his need;
"How vile I am," he said with shame, girt up his loins with speed;
"I see myself and do repent, I’ll do all He commands."
Captivity was turned to wealth when Job prayed for his friends.

Jonah was a messenger who disobeyed his God;
At other times he prophesied but now he faced the rod.
He paid his vow, the people turned, great Nineveh believed;
Displeased, he said, "Lord, take my life, I do not want to live."

The Lord prepared a gourd to grow to shelter Jonah’s head,
Then took away the life He gave, sent sun and heat instead;
Taught him the lesson all must learn, the spirit of the dove,
Where there’s no room for judgment harsh, there’s pity in His love.

And still today His servants face the tests in ev’ry land,
When storms are fierce and struggles keen, to see if they will stand;
Discouragement, as health may fail, or friends may prove unkind;
To prove their worth, to bring them low, to teach them His own mind.

As disappointments plague their path we plead for them today,
That they may find in Thee their strength, refreshing for the way.
Lift Thou their eyes anew to see the fight is not in vain;
Bless them, O God, with courage new, THE WILL TO LIVE again.
