Early Days Of The Price Family

Jack was 93 on the 20th of January 2015, born in B.C., likely at Armstrong, and went into the work in 1946 at the age of 24. I'll attach a few of photos of the Price family and two of Jack, most of which were sent to my parents who were good friends of the Prices in the old days.
In B.C. the Prices lived at first at Hullcar near Armstrong, B.C. and some of them, including Jack's parents Ewart Gilbert Henry (or Harry) Price, born at Stroud, England, and his second wife Mabel Elizabeth (Price) Price, also born in England, as well a 10th child and older sister of Jack's, Enid Mabel Price, who died in 1918 at age 3, are buried in Hullcar Cemetery. Hullcar is hardly seen on maps anymore.

Ewart came from England in early 1906 with his parents Henry and Margaret (Hill) Price who settled in Winnipeg on Jasper Street where they were enumerated on the 12 July in the 1906 Census of Manitoba. Ewart, at 18, was the eldest of the four children shown in that Census. Also shown living with them was Kate Hyde, 19, born in England, whom Ewart married later that year, on 22 December. Kate died at Winnipeg on 26 Aug. 1909, less than three year later, still only age 21.

Then Ewart, a carpenter, is shown, once more with his parents, at 480 Jasper Avenue, Winnipeg in the 1911 Census, enumerated 9 June 1911. A year later, on 15 June 1912, he married Mabel Elizabeth Price, born in England, who had come to Canada earlier that year. And they subsequently had at least 10 children, including Jack. The family moved to B.C. by at least 1914 and were at Hullcar by at least early 1921.
