Men seek for the treasure hid deeply in earth,
Though brightly it glitters, so little its worth,
So vain is the labor to seek and to find,
And when life is over, it's all left behind.
Chorus:
Lord, roll back the curtain that men may behold,
And leave earthly silver, to seek heaven's gold.
So great is Thy promise, so clear is Thy work;
The treasure in heaven no foe can disturb.
They only have treasure and comfort to share,
Who wisely in lifetime will lay treasure there.
Thou knowest, dear Father, so precious is time;
So much has been wasted on things left behind.
Oh, roll back the curtain and show things divine,
So worthless earth's treasure when compared to Thine.
We look at the mighty, the rich and the strong;
So many their sorrows, so rare is their song.
The godly are happy for Thy blest control,
Such peace and contentment, so rich is their soul.
This is a song as well as a poem written by Kenneth Dissmore
