Feeding On The Lamb

“Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted, its head with its legs and its inner parts.” Exodus 12:9
Eating the head of the lamb is like feeding on Christ’s thoughts. Having the mind of Christ, Philippians 2:5 – 8, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus…” Christ’s mind is a lowly mind. It is full of humility. It is a humble mind – willing to serve and take the lowest place of service. It is a lowly mind – esteeming others better than oneself (Phil. 2:3). “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil. 4:8). The more we feed on Lamb’s head (Christ’s thoughts), the more we become like Him in our thoughts. Feeding on the legs of the lamb is like meditating on Jesus’ life and walk. Romans 10:15, “…as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” It is not the natural feet that is beautiful but their walk – their way of life that is beautiful. Jesus ‘walked’ the ‘talked’ and he taught his disciples not as the scribes do. Matthew 7:29, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Jesus taught with authority because he lived first what he preached – he practiced with his own life – before he taught others. He is an example to all of us and especially to those who preach the gospel. It is very possible to just talk and not do. In Genesis 27:22, and Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, “The voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” This is the time Isaac gave his blessing to Jacob. Jacob typifies the godly/divine nature in us while Esau is like our flesh. It is very possible to have the ‘voice’ of Jacob and yet the ‘work of our hand’ is different. This is what we get from the preachers of this world. They have good words to speak when they preach on TV or Radio stations but their lives are different from what they are teaching. We’re so thankful for Jesus, that He lived with his life what He preached. Feeding on the inner parts – one of the main parts being the heart – it is good to feed on the heart of Jesus. David was a man after God’s own heart. Why was it so? David was not perfect just like any of us. He had sinned against God and done terribly wrong. In 2 Samuel 12, we read of the story how Nathan told of the poor man’s lamb. David has been feeding on the lamb’s heart and so he can easily relate to the story of the lamb. Feeding on Lamb’s heart will make our hearts soft and contrite. Psalm 51:1, the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. This is what pleases God when we recognize our sin and repent just like David. The entrails is the fatty part of the lamb. This is the best part that the Lord wants us to feed on and not on junk food. “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land…” Isa 1:19. This is what the Lord has promised if we are willing and obedient. “Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.” Isa 7:15. This speaks about Jesus and we can be like him as we feed on the Lamb. Feeding on the Lamb will help in our daily task of making decisions that are wise and according to His will. In Revelations 21:23, and the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Feeding on the lamb will take us where He is – for He is our Light and our Life.
